Much less than people expect. Over solid decking with underlayment under it, a Freedom metal roof sounds about like a shingle roof from inside the house. The loud tin roof people remember was screwed straight to open purlins over a barn with nothing underneath.
Most Freedom houses are a two to four day job. A straightforward shingle roof can be done in a day or two. A cut up metal roof takes longer because every panel, valley and trim piece is measured and fit on site rather than pulled out of a box.
A typical Freedom shingle roof runs roughly $8,000 to $18,000 in 2026 for an average single family home, and more if the deck has rot or the roof is steep and cut up with dormers. We do not price off a satellite photo — somebody comes out and measures.
Any dry stretch works. We roof in Freedom year round, though we schedule shingle work for when it is warm enough for the strips to seal properly, and we watch the forecast so your house is never left open overnight.
Sometimes. If the decking is sound and there is only one layer of shingles, a Freedom metal roof can go over the top on purlins. If there is rot underneath or two layers already on, we tear off first — and we will tell you that before you sign, not halfway through.
